Executive Meeting – 18.30
1. Finance Report
Frances provides an overview of the current finances:
- Receivables & Reconciliation Summary.
- Gunsmoke advertising & distribution costs.
- Profit & Loss Summary.
2. Presidents Report
- Wells Station Drive extension to go ahead as planned – Caroline Le Couteur to speak tonight.
- Alistair Coe MP may also attend tonight’s meeting.
- Volume of road works/construction, esp. Flemington Rd. Fix pot holes. New club site to go near Police station.
- Charity bins in Woolworths carpark –too full/unhygienic - Letter to Koomari/Marketplace – to remove bins.
- GDE/Tuggeranong Parkway road works creating traffic jams.
- Akron has gone into receivership. Development of Crace - what is the future of site?
- Gunsmoke advertising – should it be all pre-paid? Set up Paypal on the website to prevent losses?
- GRCS – updated agreement in place (GST, etc) – Matthew to do
- Accounting 4 Business – Frances to confirm.
General Meeting - 19.30
1. Guest Speaker – MLA Caroline Le Couteur – Wells Station Drive
- Government has made its position clear they will not continue with motion passed last year
- Intersection will be signalized from the beginning of the development, which is a positive, safe improvement to initial plans
- Realignment costing sheet indicate it will cost approx $5m more than initial development costs
- Government is not in a position to spend this additional money for the road
- Proposed road – very close to houses
- Realignment would transfer problem/closeness to road from one set of people/street to another.
- GCC should request a copy of costing from Andrew Barr
- EIS may need to be done for creek and surroundings and approx $800,000 costs to plan/specifically cost the development
- Road development to begin end of 2010/start 2011 – why the urgency when there is a deficit program? Being developed for Harrison 4 development.
MLA Alastair Coe
- Territory plan is vague. Still unsure of clearing hill vs. building on hill.
- FOI – 200 pages worth of information – 4-5 emails engineering firm to ACT Gov., cost to be approx $5m.
- No plans or specific breakdown.
- No breakdowns available – where are they?
- How could a decision be made without breakdown of costs?
- If there are problems to a territory plan, change it. Minister has the ability to change it - Can take only 2-3 months
- Can change territory plan to restructure where houses will be, but cannot change where existing residential zoning is
- Has tried to get information regarding costing but Government has refused to provide it
- Convinced there is no information to “get”

- Event – Heritage festival – two week - April (to coincide with World Heritage Day – April 18)
- Dozen workers – architects, archeologists, tourism
- Gungahlin region – very early settlement, like Piallago
- Heritage grants program – open for applications- ideas welcome
- Conservation management plan
- Around Canberra – interpretive signs – strengthening community pride, enhancing tourism, rejuvenate local history, adds to visitors experience
- Signs in Giralang, Amaroo, Canberra tracks – four self-drive heritage trails, Mulligan’s Flat school, Palmerville, Girrawa Park, Mulligan’s Flat reserve.
- Canberra Tracks brochures available at Canberra Visitor’s centre, car rental businesses, railway stations, etc.
- Chief Minister keen to have Palmerville recognized – Oldest tree in Canberra - old Oak tree (acorns collected for ACT Nursery)
- Key events – Elm Grove open day, last working rural properties in Bonner – April 17th – access from Mabo Boulevard. Open to the public, sheep shearing demo, dance, choir, children’s activities, dig, car clubs, next to the border ACT/NSW, walk to border markers. Wonderful view from Oak Hill. During the school holidays.
