The November GCC meeting will be held on Wednesday 12 November. Special topics will be the Cotter Dam expansion and the Horse Park Drv extension.
Although the Cotter Dam is not in the Gungahlin district, the dam and surrounding reserves are no doubt favourite recreational areas for many of our residents. Representatives of ACTEW will present information on the planned expansion of the dam and impacts on surrounding areas. Also the Canberra Times reported on this, saying that the expanded dam would - among other things - flood an additional 240 ha of land.
Representatives of Brown Consulting (ACT) P/L will present the preliminary design of the Horse Park Drive extension between Arrabri Street and Burrumarra Avenue, which will be constructed in 2009. This will take us one step closer to filling in all the missing links of this major local connector road.
We will also be continuing the adjourned GCC Annual General Meeting. We need some additional volunteers urgently if GCC is to continue its work.
And if you are the sort of person who stays away from AGMs for fear of "getting roped into something", don't worry - we don't do that.
On the other hand, if you'd like to put your hand up, more fresh faces would be cheerfully welcomed! Please drop a line to president @ gcc.asn.au.
See you at the Palmerston Community Centre, next to the Palmerston shops, Tiptree Crescent, at 7.30 pm.Meetings are the second Wednesday of every month (except January). Here's a map of the meeting location.
