Nominations for Membership of the ACT Advisory Committee on Women in Sport and Recreation

The ACT Sport and Recreation Minister’s Advisory Council (SRMAC) is seeking nominations from suitably qualified people in the community for membership to the ACT Advisory Committee on Women in Sport and Recreation.

The Advisory Committee, a sub-committee of the SRMAC, plays a key role in providing advice and information to assist the ACT Government in developing and implementing its policies and programs that are relevant to women and girls in sport and recreation. Specifically to provide the Minister for Sport, through the SRMAC, with advice and information on matters including:
·               Women’s sport and recreation funding initiatives;
·               Issues relevant to women and girls on facility and capital works development and priorities;
·               Gender equity and women’s issues within sport and recreation policies;
·               Industry development and leadership issues for women;
·               Participation issues for women and girls; and
·               Any other matter referred to the Advisory Committee by the Sport and Recreation Council.

To be eligible, nominees must address the following Selection Criteria:
·               Demonstrated commitment to the advancement of women in sport and recreation;
·               Sound knowledge of the interests and concerns of women in sport and recreation;
·               Understanding of key women’s issues in the ACT community; and
·               Ability to consult with and represent women in the ACT.

Members will be selected based on their background and relevant skills. Nominees are required to submit an expression of interest addressing the above mentioned selection criteria (maximum two pages) and a copy of their curriculum vitae to the ACT Sport and Recreation Minister’s Advisory Council for their consideration.

Please note, members are not eligible for payment or sitting fees, however, out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed by Sport and Recreation Services.

When selecting members, consideration will be given to the overall composition of the Committee so that it is inclusive, where appropriate, of people with disabilities, people of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people of different ages and locations.
