All candidates for the seat of Fraser and lead Senate candidates for ACT have been offered the opportunity to submit their views for Gungahlin residents via a 500-word article. Following is the unedited statement received from Jim Arnold, Senate Candidate - Citizens Electoral Council. The following comments do not necessarily represent the views of the GCC.
CEC FIGHTING PLATFORM, SUMMARY*
1. Finance:
a. National investment bank
b. replace GST with tax on speculation (@ 0.1%)
c. new Bretton-Woods International system
2. Industry:
a. moratorium on farm foreclosures
b. ditch National Competition policy
c. reassert national control over mineral resources (including fuels)
d. halt privatisations of state assets and regulatory bodies; reversals where possible.
e. generous immigration quotas
3. Public Good; dramatic expansions in:
a. infrastructure
b. health facilities
c. a real war on drugs
4. Civil rights: repeal fascist laws:
a. anti-demo ("shoot-to-kill")
b. anti-union
c. "anti-terror"
d. anti-free-speech (eg, racial-vilification)
