Yet another major development site in Civic has been sold off by the ACT Government. Hot on the heels of the announcement that a major west Civic carpark site would be sold for around $35M, comes advice that the QEII site on the corner of Marcus Clarke & Rudd Streets would be developed by Walker Corporation for new DEST headquarters.

 

Normally we'd be very concerned about the loss of yet another potential Gungahlin tenant and employment creator. But this article has a weird slant to it - the tender for the site was apparently linked to "a development in the Gungahlin town centre." Just what does this mean? We'll have to ask Minister Barr, then let you know...
