Gungahlin will not have to wait long to see the fruits of $525,000 in planning funding announced by Minister Andrew Barr.
$325,000 will go immediately into design works for the Gungahlin College precinct, with architects concept plans already well under way. We've been involved with the concept planning for this project from the beginning, and have been very happy with the progress made to date. The college is planned to open for the 2010 school year, so the brakes are well and trully off.
$200,000 has been allocated to respond to our concerns that the Gungahlin Town Centre Master Plan is seriously out of date, will never deliver adequate jobs to this community, and therefore needs a major overhaul. An overhaul is what it is going to get, with a commitment already given be the Chief Minister's 2IC at our October meeting to personally oversee the outcome..
