Flemington Road questions continue

Flemington Road is the primary gateway to Gungahlin and will remain so for many years to come.

GCC is determined to make sure it does not become yet another embarrassing "mistake" the likes of which are all too common in Gungahlin, as ACT Planning Minister Andrew Barr conceded recently to Weston residents when they met with him over concerns about development directions for Molonglo.

We've been seeking changes to the Concept Plan for the road that was published by ACTPLA in December, but to date nothing seems to have changed if the published documents on the ACTPLA website are anything to go by. This is contrary to what we've been told by the Minister's office, so we've been trying to get to the bottom of exactly what changes have taken place, and if they have, then why aren't they on the public record?

In early May, the Minister's office advised us that:

"ACTPLA advice is that your suggestions on Flemington Road concept plan have been incorporated, even though there is not a set of diagrams which capture the current state of the concept plan. As I understand, the concept plan once amended based on consultations was handed to LDA who will do the next level of detail planning in the lead up to land release."

We have responded that the concept plan as published on the ACTPLA website (and therefore we have to presume as sent to LDA for "delivery") is the same document we raised concerns about, and is in fact designated "December 2007". It shows no evidence of anything being changed - pictures or words.

If there have been changes, then we believe that they should be made public. We suggested this needs to be resolved prior to the Minister's attendance at our 11 June public meeting.

As always, we'll keep you posted...
