People are finding it increasing hard to find land on which to build a home so they escape the rent trap in Canberra, and it's hurting builders too.

Well not all of them - as evidenced by the rows of signs from just a couple of agents in Franklin, there is a lot of job-lot purchasing going on by certain builders. This makes it hard for small builders to get land when they have clients. and it results in ugly homogenous streets of "cookie cutter" houses by just one or two builders.
 
We've said before and will continue to say - the LDA should not be selling job lots of land when supply is so tight. Put it all on the market for sale to individuals. We'll also be more likely to get homes appropriately designed for the block too...
