Linear Park

Construction of the town centre 'linear park' is chugging along. We recently found these postcards in one of the shopping centres showing what the park is meant to look like once the trees get going. (LDA - would have been nice if you sent us a copy don't you think...?) We hear that completion is aiming for before Christmas.

This picture is from the library end looking south, past a built-in tactile art piece that is meant to represent a water feature without the water!

Down the southern end, the park is much wider, and is starting to look like a quite expansive area of paving. We'll have somewhere good to hold markets, that's for sure. You can read our thoughts on the park design here.

There is also meant to be another major art piece to be installed in the southern section (hopefully breaking up that paving a bit). But Sean Bainbridge - our representative on the working group for that project - reports that progress has been slow, with tender documents only recently going out.
