About 100 residents from around Canberra attended a community information session on Wednesday 1 October to learn more about the new suburb of Crace.
The session was an opportunity for those interested in Crace and the future of the Gungahlin area to hear more about proposals for the suburb’s development.
Canberra Investment Corporation Crace Project Director, Clare Gilligan summarises the night:
All demographics were represented at the event, from young singles, professionals and families, to mature couples and retirees.
It was an opportunity for people to learn more about a range of exciting new ideas and lifestyle options that have not been seen before in Canberra.
Most importantly, it was designed to ensure the Crace team could receive valuable community feedback and input on the types and styles of community facilities which could be provided in the new suburb.
We were also able to provide details about our environmental and social objectives for Crace, and to receive a range of views and feedback on the types of community facilities that people want to see in the suburb.
The new suburb, which is 2.5km south-west of Gungahlin town centre and 9km north of Civic, will help meet a growing need for residential land in the ACT.
There was very strong interest in the design and development proposals for the suburb, with many attendees requesting regular information about development progress.
There was certainly a buzz about what is being proposed and quite a high level of anticipation for the style of suburb that Crace will become.
We have set out to change everything about the way this development will be undertaken, and this departure from convention is creating a lot of excitement.
