Recently the ACT Planning and Land Authority released an Issues Paper entitled Towards More Solar Efficient Housing.

This is an issue close to our hearts at GCC. We've been banging on for years about the need for the ACT Government to toss out a number of their Concept Plans for new suburbs, and start over with them , with a view towards better subdivision design, leading to better home design.

So GCC lodged a submission on this Issues Paper.

Some of the key issues we put forward were the need for mandatory declaration of the energy rating for vacant land at point of sale, the need to 'lift the bar' on lot layout within new suburbs, and the false economy of ever-shrinking block sizes.
