Important news if you are a dog or cat owner.

Under legislation now before the Assembly, all cats will have to be desexed at three months, and all cats to be microchipped from July 2009.

All dogs over 12 weeks will have to be microchipped on sale or if declared dangerous, and after three years from the law being enacted, all dogs to be chipped regardless.

There's a sweetener in there - if you register your dog during 2007-08, it's a lifetime rego at the cost of one year.
