The ACT Government has announced that Gungahlin Drive will be duplicated with work commencing immediately from Aranda to the Glenloch Interchange. The Opposition are making a similar claim that if they are installed as the new government they too will duplicate Gungahlin Drive. GCC reps Alan Kerlin and Kevin Cox have claimed it is a victory for the lobbying power of residents, with Alan suggesting that the government needed to listen a bit more closely in future.
In the Canberra Times, they are bickering over who announced it first. But GCC president Alan Kerlin points out that the funds were allocated in the May budget as one of those "nudge-wink" funds without an actual destination attached, as confirmed by Andrew Barr at our next meeting. you can check the video of that meeting here.
