Residents of Gungahlin who work at Brindabella Park will be pleased to know that the Gungahlin Community Council's campaign for a direct bus service has been successful!
The ACT Government's mini-budget announcements this week included reference to a new service from Gungahlin to BBP.
I can now confirm that this will go from the Gungahlin Town Centre, along Horse Park Drive (presumably with a couple of pick-up points along the way) and express down Majura Road. There will be three services to BBP each morning and three going home each evening.
The service (and all the new network changes) are proposed to start on 28 April - a year to the day since the GCC started the campaign for this service, and almost 1200 people have read our article that kicked it off.
There's a "but", and this is where we need your help...
This is officially still a proposal, and will be published as part of consultation on the full bus service network review, which will be released for public comment on Monday 19 November, with submissions due by 21 December. Details will be on www.action.act.gov.au
It is important that everyone who is likely to use this new service lodges a brief comment supporting the proposal. Could Gungahlin residents please circulate this information to everyone you know who works in BBP?
Thanks for your help to date - now let's sheet this one home to a great outcome.
