Overview

In this section of the website you can explore in details some selected topics and issues affecting the Gungahlin District that the Gungahlin Community Council has been involved in.

These are a sample of the various Topics & Issues covered in this section:

GAMVA - Gungahlin and Mitchell Voter's Action

DO DISTURB the political parties and politicians who continue to ignore Gungahlin and Mitchell's needs.

Gungahlin and Mitchell Voter's Action (GAMVA) is not aligned to any political party. The objective of the group is to promote issues of importance to the Gungahlin and Mitchell region.

The general focus of the organisation is to actively encourage political parties to develop election policies that are responsive to the region's needs; and to support candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the Gungahlin/Mitchell district.

GDE NOW! in support of the Gungahlin Drive Extension

GDE NOW! was formed to fight for the immediate construction of the Gungahlin Drive. Gungahlin residents are sick and tired of increasing delays, rising costs to the tax-payer and the NIMBY attitudes being taken by minority interest groups.

Friend of Gold Creek Homestead

The Friends of Gold Creek Homestead (formerly known as the Gold Creek Homestead Community Working Group) is a group of concerned Gungahlin residents that are working for the preservation and appropriate redevelopment of the historic Gold Creek Homestead and surrounding site.

Campaign for Light Rail

The Gungahlin Community Council has been very proactive in promoting the concept of Light Rail as a complementary public transport mode (in conjunction with the construction of roads) for the Gungahlin region.

Community Survey 2002

In 2002 the Gungahlin Community Council Inc. undertook a comprehensive quantitative survey of the Gungahlin Community. The purpose of this survey was to establish the key areas and topics that could be considered to be of greatest concern to the general Gungahlin community (and to any other individuals responding who may otherwise have an interest in the district).
